Aquaponics
6th Grade Science teacher Ms. Judy was awarded a Grant for Aquaponics in the Classroom.
Aquaponics is a sustainable system in which fish are raised in a tank where plants are grown. A symbiotic relationship is created where fish waste provides food for the plants and the plants keep the water clean. This is a hands-on STEM education endeavor enhancing the life science unit focusing on sustainability and environmental issues for the entire 6th grade science curriculum.
This grant includes funding for a fish tank, garden plants, grow lights, an air pump, water test kit, and fish.
